While recent posts on X and his teaser for the launch of a venture on Sept.25 have confirmed that he stayed tuned to the market, the confirmation came via an email to Bloomberg.Burry emerged from a nearly two-year-long self-imposed social media exile in late October and has been brisk in his engagements since.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Still Active</h2>In an emailed reply to Bloomberg, Burry&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-11-18/burry-says-he-s-active-in-markets-after-fund-is-deregistered">said</a>, “I am still running my money and active in markets.” He also clarified that Scion Asset Management was virtually a “family-and-friends” fund. “This last go-around was always essentially a friends and family fund,” he said. “I didn’t market it or treat it like most do, and I wasn’t trying to grow assets by acquiring investors I didn’t already know. I didn’t want the problems I had the first go around with Scion Capital.”Scion Capital, which Burry founded in November 2020, shot to fame when its founder had the prescience to accurately predict the subprime mortgage crisis and the subsequent housing market collapse, and also profited from his bearish bet. WeRide Stock Gains Pre-Market On Green Light For Driverless Robotaxis Abroad

Burry accurately predicted the housing market bubble well ahead and profited from its collapse in 2008.The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/QQQ">Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ)</a> ETF, which tracks the Nasdaq 100 Index, has shed more than 3% since the start of November, as concerns about an AI bubble have mounted. The ETF, however, is up about 19.5% this year.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Chart Tracking Historic Booms</h2>Burry shared a chart showing market plunges after three past bubbles, leaving his followers to guess what could follow the current surge in cloud and AI capital spending.The chart showed the Nasdaq 100 peaking in 2000, driven by the dot-com mania and increased investment in the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) sectors, followed by its subsequent collapse. The housing market bubble of the early 2000s, driven by aggressive subprime lending, led the S&amp;P 500 Index to a high in 2007, before the bubble burst, causing the index to drop sharply.&nbsp;The Shale revolution,&nbsp;spearheaded by hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling in the mid-2000s, boosted U.S. oil production by 7 million barrels per day. It helped assert the country’s energy independence and also provided the nations around the world with an alternative supply source. The chart Burry shared showed the S&amp;P Energy Index peaking around July 2014, followed by a sharp pullback.&nbsp;The chart also underscored rising spending on Cloud and AI currently, and the Nasdaq 100, an index comprising 100 non-financial tech companies, hitting all-time highs in the fourth quarter. The index scaled a new peak of 26,182.10 on Oct. 29, and it has since lost about 4.5%.Burry's post on X also carried the text “One chart to refute them all….” The short-seller may have been referring to those who are optimistic about the AI revolution unfolding over multiple years.<img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Screenshot_2025_11_16_at_9_54_50_PM_png_d3a907c680.webp" alt="Screenshot 2025-11-16 at 9.54.50 PM.png">His followers held mixed views about his post. Another argued that “It’s not necessarily bubble. They look more like correlation instead of causation.”A user also took a jibe at Burry and said, “Closed fund to become [a] content creator.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">Burry’s AI Skepticism</h2>After a nearly two-year hiatus, Burry reappeared on X in late October, flagging a bubble and advising investors not to play it. Later, he posted about rising TMT capital expenditure and the circular deals occurring in the AI industry.&nbsp;The “Big Short” fame hedge fund manager also warned about big techs, including Meta, Alphabet, Oracle, Microsoft, and Amazon, using a higher useful life for networking/computing assets, thereby artificially boosting profits. He stated that Meta and Oracle may be overstating earnings by over 20% each by 2028 due to this.In a separate post, Burry took a potshot at Palantir, another AI darling, and against which his hedge fund Scion Asset Management had taken a massive short bet in the third quarter. His firm has since deregistered with the SEC.All through his social media return, he has been flagging a venture, the nature of which he hasn’t clarified yet. He issued another teaser toward it in his latest post. “To be continued Nov 25th, or before,” he said in the post.<h2 class="st-heading-2">AI Evangelist Stays Bullish&nbsp;</h2>Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives has dismissed the AI bear chatter circulating on the Street. Michael Burry Digs Up ‘One Chart To Refute Them All’ As He Sounds Fresh AI Bubble Alarm

Big tech’s rising capital spending on cloud and AI has raised the specter of an imminent bubble burst, although some believe that the revolution has further legs to play out.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Microsoft has publicly supported&nbsp;the GAIN AI Act, while Amazon has told Senate staffers in private that they also back it,&nbsp;according to the Wall Street Journal.</li><li>The move comes amid lobbying for favorable policies that can give these companies an edge in the AI race.</li><li>An analyst said the relationship between Nvidia and hyperscalers is becoming increasingly complex.</li></ul>Two of Nvidia Corp.’s (NVDA) largest hyperscaler customers have reportedly backed the Trump administration’s proposed legislation that would further restrict the company’s chip exports to China.&nbsp;A bipartisan bill, called the GAIN AI (Guaranteeing Access and Innovation for National Artificial Intelligence) Act, proposes that a company seeking a license to export advanced AI chips to China and other countries of concern first certify that American companies and startups have priority in acquiring those chips.&nbsp;Nvidia and its peer, AMD, have been cut out of the lucrative China artificial intelligence (AI) chip market due to the U.S.’s apprehension about arming China with these high-performance chips and ceding its leadership in the AI arms race. These companies have been among the biggest beneficiaries of the AI revolution since it kicked off in late 2022.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NVDA">Nvidia’s stock</a> is up 39% year-to-date compared to the 105% advance for&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AMD">AMD's stock.</a>&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Teaming Up Against Partner</h2>The Wall Street Journal,&nbsp;citing congressional aides and people familiar with the matter, has&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.wsj.com/tech/amazon-and-microsoft-back-effort-that-would-restrict-nvidias-exports-to-china-21e29e01?mod=hp_lead_pos3">reported</a> that Amazon and Microsoft have sided with the government as they compete for favorable policies to maintain their AI leadership.Microsoft has publicly supported the act, while Amazon has told Senate staffers in private that it also backs it, according to the Journal. If the bill becomes law, Amazon and Microsoft—the two largest public cloud vendors—would receive preferential access to Nvidia chips.&nbsp;“Usually the tension between hyperscalers and Nvidia is about the product itself and pricing,”&nbsp;according to Futurum Group’s lead semiconductor analyst Ryan Wang, as reported by WSJ. “Right now that tension is getting more complicated.”Sources told the WSJ that other major tech companies, including Alphabet (GOOG) and Meta (META), as well as President Donald Trump, have not yet taken a stance on the GAIN AI Act. That said, Nvidia has no bones about its opposition to the Act.&nbsp; Speaking to Reuters in early September, a Nvidia spokesperson said, “We never deprive American customers in order to serve the rest of the world. In trying to solve a problem that does not exist, the proposed bill would restrict competition worldwide in any industry that uses mainstream computing chips.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">A Test For Street Savvy Huang</h2>Congress is reportedly considering whether to include the act as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which the president typically considers by the end of the year. The Act has received support from top Democratic lawmakers, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). However, it still needs to gain the approval of Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and top House Republicans.&nbsp;According to the Journal, the Act will test the influence of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who has been vocal about creating a level playing field for U.S. companies by allowing them to compete in the Chinese market. Did Amazon And Microsoft Just Turn On Nvidia? 2 Big Techs Reportedly Back Team Trump’s Plan To Box Out AI Chipmaker In China

Nvidia’s push for a level playing field in China has seen a setback as a few hyperscaler customers have taken a stance against exporting chips to the Asian nation.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Palantir stock currently trades at a 73% discount to the per-share value of Burry's bearish bet.</li><li>Citron said in a mid-August short report that Palantir is worth only $40 apiece.</li><li>Burry has called out a bubble in the AI space — an industry that drove much of the upside seen in the bull run since late 2022.</li></ul>Scion Asset Management founder Michael Burry,&nbsp;who famously bet against the U.S. housing market in 2008, took a potshot at financial media for their coverage of his firm's short bet against Palantir in a new post on X.&nbsp;The hedge-fund manager emerged from a nearly two-year social-media&nbsp;hiatus in late October and has since been quick to engage, mainly issuing warnings about the artificial intelligence (AI) bubble.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Burry Calls Out Media</h2>Sharing a screenshot of a CNBC headline that said Burry bought Palantir put options worth $912 million as of Sept. 30, Burry said he&nbsp;purchased 50,000 of the put options for $1.84 apiece. A put option provides a holder the right, but not the obligation, to sell a financial asset at a predetermined price before the expiration date.&nbsp;A standard put option represents 100 shares, and the option price is quoted per share. So, to derive the cost of a single contract, the quoted premium is multiplied by 100."So, I bought 50,000 of these things for $1.84. Each of those things is 100 doodads. So I spent $9,200,000, Not $912,000,000. @CNBC @WSJ @FT," he said. In these filings, options positions are reported by their notional value, which represents the current market value of the underlying shares. In this case, that is 5 million shares at roughly $182 per share (Palantir’s price around that time), which results in about $912 million, a figure that reflects exposure, not the actual cash outlay.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/PLTR">Palantir stock</a> ended Wednesday's session down 3.56% at $184.17. The stock is therefore trading at a roughly 73% discount to Burry's $50 price target. Incidentally, Citron said in a mid-August short report that <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/palantir-retail-traders-sentiment-deflates-amid-short-attack/chsiBicRdW0">Palantir is worth only $40 apiece.</a><h2 class="st-heading-2">Burry Wants To Move On</h2>In his bio on X, Burry,&nbsp;who Christian Bale played in the 2015 movie "The Big Short", has teased the potential launch of a social media channel on Nov. 25. In his recent posts calling out hyperscalers such as Oracle and Meta for their disproportionate capital expenditures (capex) and for artificially inflating earnings by extending the useful life of assets, he said he would disclose more information by that date.Some Stocktwits users also shared screenshots alleging that Burry "is shutting down his Scion Asset Management and will be returning capital to investors by year end."&nbsp;This could not be independently verified at the time of publishing.<stembedurl>https://stocktwits.com/wha1e/message/635988654</stembedurl>However, Burry’s X bio currently teases a potential new venture on Nov. 25.
