The tour, which started in Malaysia, saw Trump sign deals with Malaysia and Cambodia that included eliminating or significantly reducing tariffs on a wide range of U.S. exports.President Trump also inked reciprocal trade frameworks with Thailand and Vietnam. Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit on Thursday.<h2 class="st-heading-2">U.S.-China Truce?</h2>The Bloomberg report noted that both leaders agreed to a truce, under which Trump has now let go of his threat to impose 100% tariffs on goods from China. It stated that the agreement also saw a pause on fees for Chinese-made ships docking at U.S. ports, in addition to lowering the fentanyl tariff and other measures.As part of the deal, Chinese President Xi Jinping is rolling back plans to further tighten export limits on rare-earth magnets. If the major averages end higher on Friday or don’t fall notably, they are on track to record their third straight week of gains.In another development, President Donald Trump has called on the Senate to terminate the filibuster custom—a longstanding Senate tactic that delays or blocks votes on legislation by keeping debate open—in a bid to end the month-long government shutdown.&nbsp; The Senate needs a supermajority of 60 of the 100 members to overcome a filibuster and pass legislation.<h2 class="st-heading-2">How Futures Are Trading</h2>As of 5 a.m. ET on Friday, the Nasdaq 100 futures jumped 1.25%, the S&amp;P 500 futures climbed 0.72%, and Dow futures added 0.12%, while the Russell 2000 futures edged up.On Stocktwits, however, retail sentiment toward the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SPY">SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF (SPY)</a>, an exchange-traded fund that tracks the S&amp;P 500 Index, turned ‘bearish’ early Friday from ‘neutral’ a day ago, and that toward the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/QQQ">Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ)</a> ETF, which tracks the Nasdaq 100 Index, worsened to ‘extremely bearish’ from ‘bearish’ a day ago. I think if the Fed keeps lowering interest rates, then I think they will be feeding animal spirits. In other words, I think they will increase the chances of financial instability,” Yardeni said in an interview with CNBC.He touched upon the weakness in the labor market, stating that it might seem to need rate cuts. However, Yardeni added that what ails the labor market can be cured with lower interest rates. “Things like deportation, stricter immigration, AI, all these issues are structural in nature,” he added.Yardeni’s comments come a day after the Fed cut the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/fed-cuts-rates-by-25-basis-points-october-fomc-meeting/cLGZvdHR3DR">policy rate</a> by 25 basis points, as expected. This brings down the federal funds rate to the 3.75% to 4% range.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Hawkish Cut</h2>Yardeni termed the Fed rate cut on Wednesday a hawkish one, saying that the central bank refrained from feeding the “animal spirits” in the stock markets. This comes after Powell said that a December rate cut was not a foregone conclusion.While the next Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting is nearly six weeks away, data from the CME FedWatch&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">tool</a> shows that there is a 72.6% probability of a 25 basis point cut in the December meeting.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Strong Earnings</h2>The economist also stated that U.S. corporate earnings have been “really surprisingly good” in the first three quarters of 2025.
