Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

According to IG analysts, the squeeze adds to the downward momentum as the balance between buyers and sellers shifts, potentially leading the bull market to reverse into a bear market.Investors holding leveraged positions are at higher risk during a long squeeze, as leveraged trading amplifies both profits and losses.When the float is small, the share price is influenced by a relatively small group of participants, making the stock more sensitive to shifts in supply and demand. In a tight market, even a mild spike in selling could affect prices much harder than usual.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Examples Of Long Squeeze</h2>According to IG analysts, between April 9 and April 21, 2020, the WTI crude benchmark’s price dropped by about 46% suddenly, triggering a long squeeze. Why Are Oil Prices Rising Today?

It’s much harder to grow vegetables in your backyard, but some people still do because they like growing vegetables.”Musk, whose company expects to build a million humanoid Optimus robots within the next year, said that if there are continued improvements in AI and robotics, money would become “irrelevant” at some point in the future.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Bessent Says Confusing Signals Coming Out Of Fed</h2>Despite many on Wall Street expecting the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates at its December meeting, the U.S. central bank’s policymakers have indicated that a rate cut might no longer be a certainty.“I think there are a lot of signals coming from the Fed, and some of them are very confusing,” Bessent said. “They cut twice, and they said that they are insurance cuts. So I would have thought that they would want to take out a third cut.”The Bureau of Labor Statistics data showed that the U.S. economy added 119,000 jobs in September before the government shutdown, well above expectations of 50,000. However, the unemployment rate also rose to 4.4%, the highest since 2021. According to CME Group’s FedWatch tool, over 63% of traders expect the Federal Reserve to maintain current rates until the next cycle.Retail sentiment on Stocktwits about the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SPY">SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF Trust</a> (SPY) was in the ‘bearish’ territory, and traders were also bearish about <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/QQQ">Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1</a> (QQQ), which tracks the Nasdaq 100.“I would believe that the Fed should be looking at the data and thinking, ‘we don't know where things are. Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio reportedly warned on Friday that the United States’ inability to cut back on spending and prevent the piling of debt is putting the monetary order at risk.According to a Bloomberg News <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-19/ray-dalio-says-us-monetary-order-is-at-risk-as-debt-mounts">report</a>, Dalio noted that the U.S. will spend about $7 trillion this year and earn only $5 trillion. Due to interest payments and roll-over of maturing borrowings, “this means you have to sell $12 trillion in debt,” he reportedly said, without giving a timeframe, during the FutureChina Global Forum in Singapore.“The market in the world does not have that same sort of demand for that debt, and that creates a supply-demand imbalance,” he noted and attributed the credit to “human nature.”U.S. federal debt stands at over $37.49 trillion, and is expected to rise even further due to President Donald Trump’s signature tax and spending bill, which was signed into law in July. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the U.S. law will add over $3.4 trillion to the national debt. UnitedHealth shares closed up nearly 9%&nbsp;at a nearly four-month high on Tuesday after Wall Street analysts said&nbsp;the health insurer’s preliminary Medicare Advantage star ratings came in better than feared, even as industry benchmarks for Stars grew tougher.The insurer said about 78% of its members are expected to be in plans rated four stars or higher for Star Year 2026, up from last year and consistent with historical averages.&nbsp;UnitedHealth also reaffirmed its 2025 adjusted earnings outlook,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/unitedhealth-announces-disappointing-full-year-guidance-q2-earnings/cho9MXLR5Uo">first issued in July</a>, when it forecast revenue of $445.5 billion to $448.0 billion and adjusted earnings of at least $16 per share, down from $27.66 in 2024. The guidance includes the recently closed acquisition of Amedisys.Leerink said the disclosure was “better than feared,” highlighting UnitedHealth’s performance despite tougher Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) cut points and new weighting factors. Denmark’s Maersk, considered a bellwether of global trade, raised its forecast for shipping activity worldwide on Thursday, based on strong demand outside North America.The company expects the global container market to grow between 2% and 4% in 2025, compared with its earlier forecast between a 1% decline and 4% expansion.U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff declarations since April 2 have upended global trade, prompting shippers like Maersk to revise their forecasts. Maersk stated that the effective container-weighted import tariff on U.S. imports is estimated at 24%, as per the Presidential Executive Order dated July 31, up from 5% in 2024.However, Maersk, which holds a 14% market share of the container shipping industry, said that several pockets of growth have emerged. That said, the continuing uncertainty over the Federal Reserve’s rate trajectory, the fate of President Donald Trump’s “one big, beautiful” tax bill and his tariffs, and volatility in commodity prices amid the geopolitical tensions pose risks to the rally.The fresh trading week will be shortened due to the July 4th Independence Day falling on Friday.After a marathon weekend session, the Republican-controlled Senate passed the tax bill by a slender majority of 51-49 votes, with Trump hailing it as a “great victory.”The bill envisions permanent tax cut extensions, new tax cuts, increased border and military spending, cancellation of electric vehicle tax credits, and cuts to Medicaid and nutritional assistance.The Senate-vetted bill is seen to increase deficits by about $3.3 trillion. It now has to be approved by the House before the president signs it into law.&nbsp;As of 11:48 p.m. ET on Sunday, the Dow and the Nasdaq 100 futures rose over 0.50%. The Russell 2000 futures were up 0.48% and the S&amp;P 500 futures gained a more modest 0.38%.Last week, the major averages climbed solidly following the announcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, which sent crude oil prices lower and alleviated an overhang. Traders also drew encouragement from rising rate-cut odds amid the release of some&nbsp;sour economic data and Trump hinting at replacing Fed Chair Jerome Powell yet again.&nbsp;The S&amp;P 500 Index closed the week at a new high of 6,173.07 and also hit an intraday record of 6,187.68.For the week ended June 27, the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/QQQ">Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) ETF</a> and the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SPY">SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF (SPY)</a> advanced 3.09% and 3.47%, respectively.The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DIA">SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA)</a> rallied 3.85%, while the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/IWM">iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM)</a> jumped 3.00%.The unfolding week’s economic calendar is heavily loaded with labor market data, including the June non-farm payrolls data, the ADP private payrolls report, the weekly jobless claims data, and the May Job Applications and Labor Turnover Survey results.A few private sector activity data and the May trade deficit report may also draw&nbsp;the attention of traders.Progress Software (PRGS) is scheduled to release its quarterly results after the market closes.Crude oil futures pulled back in Asian trading but held above the $65-a-barrel market, while gold futures rose modestly but remained at&nbsp;the sub-$3,300 level.The 10-year U.S. Treasury note was below the 4.3% mark, and the U.S. dollar is weaker across the board.Following&nbsp;the S&amp;P 500’s record run, fund manager Louis Navellier said the recovery has been broad, with industrials surprisingly leading the way among the S&amp;P 500 sector classes. According to the strategist, the main reason for the record climb is that the Trump administration has&nbsp;signaled the tariff deadline could be extended.While noting that valuation multiples are lofty, with the S&amp;P 500 approaching 24 times the P/E multiple, Navellier said, “There's clearly a bit of pull forward of earnings expectations; There's also a desire to get in front of the Fed beginning to cut rates.”Carson Group Chief Market Strategist Ryan Detrick is positioning for a strong finish for the year.
