Tim Cook Reportedly Says Apple Watch Could Alert 1 Million Users to Hypertension This Year

The stock was down 0.2% at the time of writing, while retail sentiment on Stocktwits moved higher but remained within ‘bearish’ territory over the past day.&nbsp;According to a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://fortune.com/crypto/2025/09/16/google-ai-payments-protocol-stablecoins-coinbase-salesforece-ethereum-foundation/">report</a> by Fortune, the open-source protocol not only supports more traditional forms of payments, such as credit and debit cards, but also stablecoins —cryptocurrencies pegged to underlying assets, like the U.S. dollar.The effort reportedly involved collaboration with Coinbase (COIN), which has developed its own AI and crypto payments infrastructure, as well as input from the Ethereum Foundation. The report stated that Google also consulted with more than 60 organizations spanning finance and e-commerce, including Salesforce (CRM), American Express (AXP), and Etsy (ETSY).“The way we built it is from the ground up to factor in both heritage and existing payment rail capabilities as well as forthcoming capabilities such as stablecoins,” James Tromans, the head of Web3 at Google Cloud, told Fortune.The launch builds on a protocol Google released in April to create a common standard for AI agents to communicate. The report said the latest release extends that framework to agent-to-agent payments, aiming to ensure transactions remain secure and aligned with human intent.Coinbase and Google worked to make their systems interoperable, Erik Reppel, head of engineering at Coinbase’s developer platform, told Fortune. “We’re all working to figure out how we can make AI transmit value to each other,” he said.The push comes amid a more crypto-friendly policy environment in Washington. Google Taps Coinbase, Ethereum Foundation For New Payments Protocol With Stablecoin Support: Report

Magnite (MGNI) announced on Tuesday that it has filed a lawsuit against Alphabet’s (GOOG/GOOGL) Google in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, seeking damages tied to antitrust violations.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/MGNI">Magnite’ stock</a> rose more than 1% in pre-market trade on Tuesday. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the stock remained in ‘neutral’ territory over the past day. Instead, it first bought its way to dominance,” the lawsuit said.&nbsp;The move follows an April 2025 federal ruling that found Google “willfully engaged in a series of anticompetitive acts” to maintain monopoly power in ad exchange and ad server markets.&nbsp;Magnite CEO Michael Barrett said the company was built to help publishers improve ad revenue through technology and transparency, but argued that Google’s self-preferencing practices made that mission harder to achieve. He added that Magnite hopes the legal action will help restore competition and innovation across the digital ad ecosystem.Magnite had previously signaled potential action. On its second-quarter (Q2) earnings call, Barrett told investors the company was “looking at” litigation and saw “a lot of merit there.”The lawsuit follows similar actions by publishers and rivals. Nvidia Upgraded To Buy By DA Davidson As AI Demand Accelerates: Retail Says Stock ‘Significantly Undervalued’

DA Davidson stated that the surging appetite for AI-driven compute capacity outweighs prior concerns about rising competition and regional demand risks.

Alphabet’s (GOOG, GOOGL) health-tech unit Verily is reportedly facing allegations that it improperly used data from more than 25,000 patients and concealed the violations, according to a lawsuit filed by a former executive.CNBC&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/09/11/alphabet-verily-hipaa-diabetes-whistleblower.html">reported</a> that ex-employee Ryan Sloan claimed he was fired after flagging breaches of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to senior management. The report added that his complaint was filed in federal court in San Francisco late last year and had not been previously reported.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/GOOG">Alphabet’s stock</a> edged 0.6% lower in morning trade on Thursday, despite the broader market trading higher after the consumer price index&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/us-consumer-inflation-august-cpi-report/chwNSJ9Rdvi">reading</a> for August came in hotter than expected on a monthly basis but in line with expectations on an annual basis. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the company dipped to ‘neutral’&nbsp; from ‘bullish’ territory, and chatter also dropped to ‘normal’ from ‘high’ levels over the past day.According to the report, the suit alleges that in January 2022, Sloan and Julia Feldman, Onduo’s general counsel, discovered Verily had improperly used patients’ protected health information in research, marketing campaigns, press releases, and national conferences. The filing claims the “extensive violations” affected more than 25,000 patients in Onduo’s diabetes program.Sloan and Feldman reportedly informed senior leaders and repeatedly raised concerns. An internal investigation allegedly confirmed multiple HIPAA breaches, including 14 violations of agreements with large clients between 2017 and 2021. Impacted patients may include those served through Walgreens Boots Alliance, Highmark Health, Quest Diagnostics (DGX), and Delta Air Lines (DAL).Under HIPAA, companies must notify affected parties within 60 days of discovering a breach. The reported lawsuit claims Verily delayed notifications while negotiating contract renewals, representing to clients that it remained compliant. In August 2022, Feldman and another employee&nbsp;who were aware of the breaches were terminated, the report said. When Sloan raised the issues again in October 2022 with Verily’s then-chief revenue officer, she reportedly defended the decision to conceal the breaches, citing concerns over public relations.The report&nbsp;added that a judge rejected Verily’s bid to dismiss the case or move it into arbitration, allowing the lawsuit to proceed on Monday. “Verily believes the allegations and contentions alleged in this employment matter that was commenced in 2023 are completely without merit. Verily will defend itself to the full extent of the law,” a company spokesperson said in a statement to CNBC.&nbsp;Verily, which originally developed hardware like continuous glucose monitors, pivoted to pandemic response during COVID-19 in 2020 before refocusing on precision health in 2022. Alphabet’s Verily Accused Of Patient Data Misuse In Whistleblower Lawsuit: Report

Amazon (AMZN) is reportedly developing consumer-focused augmented-reality glasses, setting up a direct challenge to Meta Platforms (META) in the emerging augmented reality (AR) hardware market.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/AMZN">Amazon’s stock</a> dipped more than 2% in morning trade on Wednesday. However, retail sentiment on Stocktwits rose higher within ‘bullish’ territory, accompanied by ‘high’ levels of chatter over the past day. Meanwhile,&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/META">Meta’s stock</a> fell 1.2% with retail sentiment trending in the ‘neutral’ zone.The project, codenamed Jayhawk, would feature microphones, speakers, a camera, and a full-color display in one eye, according to The Information, which&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.theinformation.com/articles/amazon-developing-ar-glasses-challenge-meta">cited</a> people familiar with the matter. The report added that Amazon is also working on a second pair of AR glasses aimed at delivery drivers. Amazon’s AR Glasses Project Pits It Against Zuckerberg’s Meta: Report

Microsoft is stepping up its efforts to expand its artificial intelligence capacity and reduce dependence on&nbsp;ChatGPT developer OpenAI, which helped it take an early lead in&nbsp;the technology driving Wall Street’s frantic rally.A report by The Information on Tuesday noted that the Windows maker has struck a partnership to bring the Amazon-backed startup's AI models to Office 365 apps,&nbsp;specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.For years, Microsoft has delivered AI-powered tools for writing, summarization, and more through OpenAI's stack; under the new plan, it will tap both Anthropic and OpenAI technology, according to the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.theinformation.com/articles/microsoft-buy-ai-anthropic-shift-openai">report</a>,&nbsp;which cites unnamed sources.Microsoft will pay its cloud rival Amazon Web Services to access the Anthropic models, according to the report. Alphabet’s (GOOG/GOOGL) Google is reportedly set to be hit with a European Union antitrust fine over its adtech practices later on Friday.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GOOG">Alphabet’s stock</a> edged 0.5% higher in midday trade on Friday. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the shares surged higher with the ‘extremely bullish’ zone amid ‘extremely high’ levels of chatter.Sources familiar with the matter&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/boards-policy-regulation/alphabets-google-set-be-hit-with-eu-antitrust-fine-over-adtech-friday-sources-2025-09-05/">told</a> Reuters that the European Commission had initially planned to announce the fine on Monday. However, the timing was pushed back after EU trade chief Maros Sefcovic raised objections, citing heightened tensions with Washington over U.S. tariffs on European cars. That delayed the plans of EU antitrust chief Teresa Ribera.&nbsp;Moments later, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-05/google-fined-almost-3-billion-by-eu-for-abusing-adtech-power">reported</a> the Commission had imposed a €2.95 billion ($3.27 billion) penalty, finding that Google favored its own advertising services. “Google abused its dominant position in adtech, harming publishers, advertisers, and consumers. This behaviour is illegal under EU antitrust rules,” Ribera said.&nbsp;“When markets fail, public institutions must act to prevent dominant players from abusing their power,” she added. “True freedom means a level playing field, where everyone competes on equal terms and citizens have a genuine right to choose.”The report said Google would appeal. “The decision imposes an unjustified fine and requires changes that will hurt thousands of European businesses by making it harder for them to make money,” stated Lee-Anne Mulholland, Google’s vice president for regulatory affairs.The ruling comes at a time when the relationship between the EU and the U.S. is fraught with tension, with Trump repeatedly&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/03/trumps-digital-regulation-warning-was-aimed-at-this-country-00540363">blasting</a> the&nbsp;European Union’s clampdown on big tech. However, its adtech operations are also under scrutiny in the U.S. The Justice Department is expected to file proposed remedies later Friday, ahead of a September 22&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/02/google-advertising-antitrust-remedies-trial.html">hearing</a>.
