Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. At the time of writing,&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/BTC.X">Bitcoin’s price</a> had gained 0.5% in the last 24 hours, with retail sentiment on Stocktwits trending in ‘bearish’ territory over the past day.&nbsp;Ethereum (ETH), meanwhile, has pulled back after setting a fresh record of more than $4,900 last month, with traders eyeing $5,000 if policy signals turn dovish.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETH.X">Ethereum’s price</a> fell 0.3% in the last 24 hours, trading at around $4,500 at the time of writing. Retail sentiment around the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization also remained in ‘bearish’ territory over the past day.&nbsp;Other major altcoins showed cautious optimism, with Solana (SOL) edging 0.1% lower and meme token Dogecoin (DOGE) edging 0.3% higher. Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) plummeted in early morning trade on Monday following a multimillion-dollar hack of Shiba Inu's layer-2 network, Shibarium.&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/DOGE.X">Dogecoin’s price</a> dropped over 9% in early morning trade, and the&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/SHIB.X">Shiba token’s price</a> fell nearly 7% in the last 24 hours. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around Dogecoin moved lower but remained in ‘extremely bullish’ territory with chatter at ‘extremely high’ levels over the past day. Meanwhile, retail sentiment around Shiba Inu trended in ‘neutral’ territory, accompanied by ‘high’ levels of chatter.According to Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya, Shibarium suffered a $2.4 million flash loan exploit on Sunday after an attacker briefly gained control of its validator system. By borrowing millions of Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) tokens, the hacker manipulated validator keys to push through unauthorized transactions, draining Ethereum and Shiba Inu from the bridge linking Shibarium to Ethereum. Dogecoin, Shiba Inu Slide After $2.4 Million Hack On Shibarium Ripples Through Crypto Market

According to Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya, Shibarium suffered a $2.4 million flash loan exploit on Sunday after an attacker briefly gained control of its validator system. 

Solana (SOL) outperformed Bitcoin (BTC) and other major altcoins in early morning trade on Friday after Galaxy Digital purchased more than two million tokens over the past 24 hours, following CEO Mike Novogratz’s declaration that it was ‘Solana Season.’Dogecoin (DOGE) also moved higher on speculation, despite the reported delay of the Rex Osprey Dogecoin ETF (DOJE), which was slated to launch later on Friday but has been pushed to next week, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas. “Another delay. Launching next week. Mid-week. Prob[ably] Thurs[day],” he wrote in a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/EricBalchunas/status/1966236513517338749">post</a> on X.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/SOL.X">Solana’s price</a> surged more than 6% in the last 24 hours, trading at around $2.40, levels not seen since January this year. Retail sentiment around Solana on Stocktwits also moved higher to ‘bullish’ from ‘neutral’ territory, and chatter jumped to ‘high’ from ‘normal’ levels over the past day.&nbsp;In an&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/cryptocurrency/bitcoin-in-consolidation-mike-novogratz-sees-solana-ethereum-taking-spotlight/chwN1oPRdvg">interview</a> with CNBC on Thursday, Novogratz described the inflows into Solana as part of a broader ‘Season of SOL,” noting the blockchain’s transaction speed and growing role in financial markets.&nbsp;Following his comments,&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://intel.arkm.com/explorer/entity/galaxy-digital">data</a> from Akham Intelligence showed Galaxy bought SOL tokens for around $480 million in the last 24 hours.Meanwhile,&nbsp;<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/DOGE.X">Dogecoin’s price</a> climbed 3.8% in the last 24 hours, trading at around $0.2605 at the time of writing–a 2-month high for the meme token. Dogecoin Leads Top Crypto Tokens As Bitcoin Recovers To $112K

Michael Saylor-backed Strategy announced on Monday that it bought around 1,955 BTC for around $217 million.
