Miners today are mining Bitcoin using ASIC chip dedicated to only mining Bitcoin, and the hash rate has shot up to peta hashes.  Being the first successful online cryptography currency, Bitcoin has inspired other alternative currencies such as Litecoin, Peercoin, Primecoin, and so on.  The cryptocurrency then took off with the innovation of the turing-complete smart contract by Ethereum which led to the development of other amazing projects such as EOS, Tron, and even crypto-collectibles such as CryptoKitties.

Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Pfizer plays hardball in weight-loss drug fight

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Revenue rose 49% year-over-year to nearly $600 million, while net income reached $15.8 million and adjusted EBITDA climbed 53% to $78.4 million.</li><li>Subscriber count grew 21% to almost 2.5 million, with monthly online revenue per subscriber up 19% to $80.</li><li>On Stocktwits, retail sentiment was ‘extremely bullish,’ with users predicting the stock could climb toward $50 once Novo Nordisk partnership talks conclude.</li></ul><p>Shares of Hims &amp; Hers Health rose about 5% in after-hours trading on Monday after the company reported another quarter of strong growth and said it’s in talks with Novo Nordisk to bring&nbsp;weight-loss drug Wegovy to its platform.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Revenue And Subscriber Growth Remain Strong</strong></h2><p>Revenue rose 49% from a year earlier to $599 million as strength continued across the company’s weight-loss and wellness businesses. Net income was $15.8 million, versus $75.6 million a year ago, which had reflected a one-time tax benefit. Adjusted EBITDA increased 53% to $78.4 million.</p><p>Hims &amp; Hers now has nearly 2.5 million subscribers, up 21% from a year earlier, and monthly revenue per subscriber has also risen 19% to $80. Cash from operations soared to $149 million, while free cash flow for the quarter remained stable at $79 million.</p><p>Gross margin fell to 74%, from 79% a year earlier, mainly due to changes in shipping cadence and higher production costs related to Hims &amp; Hers’ growing weight-loss portfolio.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Talks With Novo Nordisk</strong></h2><p>The company said it’s in active talks with Novo Nordisk to make Wegovy injections and an eventual oral formulation available on its platform once they have prescribing approval. No agreement has been reached, and the company said that a deal is not guaranteed.</p><p>The company said during the earnings call that it expects to bring in over $725 million in weight-loss revenue this year, and that it’s spending money to build new sterile compounding and fulfillment centers to keep up with the surge in demand.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Outlook For 2025</strong></h2><p>Hims &amp; Hers narrowed its 2025 revenue forecast to a range of $2.335 billion to $2.355 billion, slightly above its previous estimate of $2.3 billion to $2.4 billion. It now expects adjusted EBITDA between $307 million and $317 million, compared with the earlier range of $295 million to $335 million.</p><p>For the fourth quarter, the company expects revenue of $605 million to $625 million and adjusted EBITDA of $55 million to $65 million. (PFE) on Monday announced that it has filed a second lawsuit against Metsera, Inc., its controlling stockholders, and Novo Nordisk A/S in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.</p><p>The lawsuit alleges that Novo Nordisk’s recent proposal to acquire Metsera constitutes an anticompetitive action by the company to protect its dominant market position in GLP-1 drugs by capturing and killing a nascent American competitor before it gains the support of Pfizer.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">What Does The New Lawsuit Say?</h2><p>The new lawsuit <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20251102755714/en/Pfizer-Files-Federal-Antitrust-Claims-in-Second-Lawsuit-Against-Metsera-its-Controlling-Stockholders-and-Novo-Nordisk">alleges</a> that Novo Nordisk’s proposed transaction violates several laws because of the anticompetitive effects it would have in the GLP-1 drug markets and negatively impact patients who suffer from obesity, diabetes, and other metabolic conditions. It further argues that Metsera’s controlling stockholders, including Validae Health, L.P., and Population Health Partners GP, have conspired with Metsera and Novo Nordisk to further these anticompetitive activities.</p><p>Pfizer further added that it intends to seek all appropriate remedies, including injunctive relief, to ensure that Novo Nordisk’s proposed transaction is not permitted to move forward.</p><p>“Metsera’s and its controlling stockholders’ actions, as well as those of Novo Nordisk, are in clear violation of the antitrust laws. We are confident in the merits of our case and look forward to presenting it to the Court,” the company said.</p><p>Pfizer also filed a separate lawsuit last week against Metsera, its Board of Directors, and Novo Nordisk in the Delaware Court of Chancery, asserting claims for breach of contract and fiduciary duty. It has also filed a motion with the Court of Chancery requesting that it issue a temporary restraining order to block Metsera from terminating the merger agreement with itself. &nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">What Sparked The Legal Battle?</h2><p>Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk (NVO) announced on Thursday that it has submitted an unsolicited proposal to acquire Metsera, Inc. (MTSR), following Pfizer's (PFE) <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/metsera-stock-surges-pre-market-after-pfizer-confirms-acquisition/chDQNVhR3cy">agreement</a> to acquire the smaller obesity biopharmaceutical company in September.</p><p>Metsera subsequently gave Pfizer four business days to negotiate potential adjustments to the existing transaction. The brokerage firm said Viking stands out as a leader in the obesity drug development space, citing its strong Phase 2 efficacy data from August for the oral version of VK2735.</p><p>Canaccord expects readouts from Viking’s two Phase 3 trials in 2027 and mid-2028, and believes VK2735 can differentiate on multiple fronts in a crowded obesity drug pipeline.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Pfizer And Novo Nordisk Fuel M&amp;A Speculation</strong></h2><p><a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/retail-investors-expect-viking-therapeutics-to-bag-deal/cLGFym0R3xj">Investor chatter also intensified</a> after Novo Nordisk submitted an unsolicited proposal to acquire Metsera, a company that Pfizer had already agreed to purchase in September.</p><p>Metsera has given Pfizer four business days to adjust its offer, fueling speculation among traders on Stocktwits that Pfizer might turn its attention to Viking if its Metsera deal falls through. Pfizer discontinued its own oral weight-loss candidate, Danuglipron, in April 2025, following safety issues, and has been seeking other ways to re-enter the obesity market.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Viking’s Obesity Drug Program</strong></h2><p>Viking is developing VK2735, a dual agonist of the GLP-1 and GIP receptors, both of which play key roles in regulating glucose, appetite, and body weight. The company is testing subcutaneous and oral versions of the therapy in clinical trials.</p><p>Early-stage data have shown positive safety and efficacy signals, reinforcing Wall Street’s belief that Viking could become a meaningful player in the weight-loss drug race dominated by Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Q3 Earnings And Outlook</strong></h2><p>Viking Therapeutics reported a net loss of $52.3 million for the third quarter, in line with expectations, as it continues to invest heavily in its obesity and metabolic disease pipeline. Viking said it plans to meet with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by year-end to discuss advancing the oral formulation into late-stage clinical trials.</p><p>The company noted that Phase III enrollment for its injectable version of VK2735 remains ahead of schedule, with completion expected in early 2026.
