Management commentary that demand is expected to take off only in the second half of fiscal year 2026, as well as weakening China revenue, weighed on&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AMAT">AMAT stock.</a>For the year-to-date period, Applied Materials stock has gained more than 38%.<h3 class="st-heading-3">Applied Materials Q4 Earnings Snapshot</h3>Santa Clara, California-based Applied Materials reported year-over-year (YoY) declines in both adjusted earnings per share (EPS) and revenue, even as CEO Gary Dickerson sounded upbeat about artificial intelligence (AI)-related demand.Here’s how the key quarterly numbers stack up:<ul><li>Adj. EPS: $2.17 (down 6% YoY) vs. $2.1 consensus (<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://fiscal.ai">Fiscal.ai</a>)</li><li>Revenue: $6.80B (down 3%) vs. $6.67B consensus&nbsp;</li></ul>Among segments, semiconductor systems revenue, accounting for 70% of total revenue, declined 8% YoY, while Applied Global Services revenue remained nearly flat at $1.63 billion.Dickerson said, “As AI adoption drives substantial investment in advanced semiconductors and wafer fab equipment, Applied Materials delivered its sixth consecutive year of growth in fiscal 2025.”During the earnings call, CFO Brice Hill stated that China revenue declined to 29% of total revenue, significantly below the 45% peak in the first quarter of fiscal 2024, according to a Koyfin transcript.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Applied Materials Outlook</h2>The company guided first-quarter adjusted EPS to $2.18 ± $0.20 and revenue to $6.85 billion ± $500 million. Analysts, on average, estimate the metrics at $2.15 and $6.80 billion, respectively.Citing conversations with customers and partners, CFO Hill stated that the company is preparing to support higher demand, starting in the second half of calendar year 2026. “We have targeted our R&amp;D investments to create new products and technologies that will enable even faster and more energy-efficient transistors, chips, and systems and drive our growth in the years ahead.”On the earnings call, Hills stated that the adjusted gross margin is expected to be 48.4% in the first quarter and remain at that level until volumes increase to support higher demand in the second half of the next fiscal year.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Retail Feels About AMAT Stock</h2>On Stocktwits, retail sentiment toward AMAT stock plunged to ‘extremely bearish’ as of late Thursday, from ‘neutral’ a day before. (NVTS), a manufacturer of gallium nitride and silicon carbide power semiconductors, issued below-consensus guidance, sending its stock sharply lower in Monday’s after-hours session. Retail investors&nbsp;reacted cautiously to the report.After settling Monday’s session down nearly 9% at $12.25,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NVTS">Navitas stock</a> fell over 14% in the extended session.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Navitas Q3 Earnings Snapshot</h2>The company reported a third-quarter adjusted loss per share of $0.05, aligning with the consensus estimate and narrower than the year-ago loss of $0.06. Revenue plunged over 53% year over year (YoY) to $10.1 million but edged past the $10 million consensus estimate.&nbsp;CFO Todd Glickman said on the earnings call that the revenue reduction reflected “adverse impacts from the China tariff risk for our silicon carbide business and pricing pressure in our mobile business, particularly in China,” according to a transcript provided by Koyfin.&nbsp;Torrance, California-based Navitas makes advanced computer chips that help electronics use power more efficiently.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Navitas Q4 Outlook</h2>The semiconductor company expects fourth-quarter revenue in the range of $7 million, plus or minus $0.25 million, trailing the mean analysts’ estimate of $10.03 million. It attributed the subpar outlook to its strategic decision to deprioritize the low-power, lower-profit China mobile &amp; consumer business, as well as streamline its distribution network and reduce channel inventory, to pivot to higher-power revenue and customers.CEO Chris Allexandre, however, sounded optimistic. “I’m excited to be leading the Navitas 2.0 team at this pivotal moment, as demand accelerates across high-power semiconductor markets for AI data centers, performance computing, energy and grid infrastructure, and industrial electrification.” The company guided adjusted gross margin to 38.5%, plus or minus 50 basis points.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Retail Feels About Navitas’ Q3&nbsp;</h2>On Stocktwits, retail sentiment toward Navitas stock shifted to ‘neutral’ by late Monday, down from ‘bearish’ the day before.&nbsp; The message volume also increased slightly to ‘normal’ levels, with the retail chatter over the 24 hours leading up to late Monday rising by nearly 2,060%.Shrugging off the stock plunge, a bullish watcher said they would buy 3,000 shares later.
